This is how much Steve Jobs’ autograph is now worth

Steve Jobs did a lot of things in his lifetime: He co-founded Apple, he helped create one of the first mass-market personal computers and introduced the world to the iPhone and iPad, among his many accomplishments.
One thing he rarely did: Sign autographs.
As a result, Steve Jobs’ autograph is one of the most expensive in the world, worth nearly $51,000 or 40 iPhone Xs-es, according to an analysis from collectibles dealer Paul Fraser Collectibles. His autograph has skyrocketed in value since the year 2000, increasing 27.6 percent per year, thanks to his company’s iconic status and his early death. Still, that pales in comparison to the astronomical rise in Apple stock over the last 17 years.
But Stephen Hawking could give him a run for his money. A book autographed in full by the famed theoretical physicist, who died in March, doubled in value over the past year and is now worth roughly $38,000.
“Jobs was a reluctant signer, always maintaining that Apple was a team effort,” Daniel Wade, head writer at Paul Fraser Collectibles, said in the report. “Only a handful of genuine Stephen Hawking hand-signed books exist, mostly from the 1970s before Hawking’s illness made it impossible for him to write. You’re more likely to see Hawking’s thumbprint signatures, which are generally far cheaper.”
Other deceased individuals whose autographs are highly prized include actors James Dean, Bruce Lee and Marilyn Monroe.
As for the living, a photo featuring Paul McCartney’s John Hancock is the most valuable, worth $3,751. His bandmate Ringo Starr also has one of the most expensive signatures from a living individual, as do Prince William, Prince Harry and J.K. Rowling.
Comparatively, a photo signed by President Donald Trump is worth roughly $830 — but its value has increased 15.3 percent in the past year.
The values of all of these autographed items pale in comparison to the most expensive signature ever: George Washington’s signed copy of the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, which sold for a record $9.8 million in 2012.
That item was purchased by the Mount Vernon Ladies Association of the Union, a non-profit that maintains the Mount Vernon estate in Virginia that was Washington’s home.

Microsoft may use AMD CPUs in Surface Laptop refresh

In his book Beneath a Surface, tech journalist Brad Sams has made some interesting statements about Microsoft’s plans for its products. One of the comments that has elicited a flurry of interest is his belief that the tech giant could produce a refresh of its Surface Laptop line-up that includes some models powered by an AMD APU. This would be a major change for Microsoft, as all its previous Surface products have featured chips from Intel or Nvidia (the Surface RT and Surface 2 tablets featured Tegra SoCs).
It appears Microsoft, along with a number of other computer manufacturers, has become disconcerted with the amount of time it’s taking Intel to start fully shipping 10 nm chips. The Cannon Lake generation of processors has suffered considerable delays; the CPUs were actually expected to be released in 2016 but still haven’t made much of a splash in the market. At one point, it was believed Intel had scrapped plans to produce 10 nm processors and the company even had to resort to tweeting a denial in October 2018.
Intel has enjoyed a powerful lead over AMD in CPU market share, but it seems the red team has been making some major gains in 2018 and has not suffered the same processing issues that have plagued Intel. Sams makes the conjecture that Microsoft could release a refreshed Surface Laptop in late 2019 (Q4), and these revamped devices may feature 12 nm Picasso APUs from AMD. The Surface Laptop 2 has just started shipping with quad-core Kaby Lake-R processors; it could be possible that this ends up being the last time a new Surface Laptop features a chip from the blue team.

Microsoft and Intel believed to be working on Centaurus device

Windows Central has published an article detailing a project codenamed “Centaurus.” The project is based on a new device with a novel form factor that both Microsoft and Intel are developing. The device has been called a “dual-screen 2-in-1” and is expected to utilize Windows Core OS (WCOS). This potential Surface PC will come with two screens and can be folded, therefore offering the extra functionality of a dual-screen device and the convenience of a convertible.
It wasn’t long ago Notebookcheck reported on Surface chief Panos Panay talking about new form factors that will offer a change to the current market; he could have been referencing the Centaurus device. Whilst Microsoft will obviously be busy designing the PC, it appears Intel is involved in terms of the CPU chosen to power it. This is to be expected, as Intel products power the majority of Microsoft’s Surface series, although there is a rumor that the Redmond-based tech giant may be eyeing up AMD APUs for a Surface Laptop refresh.
Apparently, the dual-screen 2-in-1 Microsoft Surface Centaurus convertible PC, or whatever catchy name it ends up sporting, will be officially announced in fall 2019. Those interested in the progress of Andromeda may be concerned that this news tolls the death knell for the potential Surface Phone. However, even though Centaurus is believed to be taking priority, there may still be a future for a smartphone form factor addition to the popular Surface series.

Architecture firm Wilkinson Eyre has revealed visuals showing its plan to install a glass lift inside one of the chimneys of Battersea Power Station in London. As part of its renovation of the Giles Gilbert Scott-designed power station, the architecture studio has designed a lift that will rise 109 metres through one of the building's four chimneys. When it reaches its peak, it will offer occupants 360-degree panoramic views across London. Named the Chimney Lift, the elevator is one of three new attractions revealed by the Battersea Power Station Development Company, set to occupy the building alongside shops and offices. Battersea Power Station glass Chimney Lift by Wilkinson Eyre The lift would rise 109 metres through the power station chimney Alongside the lift, which was first announced in 2013, the company has unveiled plans for an event space for 1,500, called The Venue. The developer envisions the space being used for product launches, fashion shows, conferences and dinners. A second event space within the power station's former control room, described as "a magnificent and rare example of a complete 1930s art deco interior", was also unveiled. Battersea Power Station glass Chimney Lift by Wilkinson Eyre Battersea Power Station also unveiled plans for a 1,500 capacity events space "These unique spaces are central to our plans that will make Battersea Power Station one of London's most exciting destinations," said Andrew Hilston, head of leasing at Battersea Power Station Development Company. Battery daily maintenance FAQ

Notebook Battery daily maintenance FAQ

Note that these steps correspond with decision dell laptop battery points on the flowchart and are reached directly by clicking on the diamond symbols. The text below cannot be read sequentially.

Needs AC Adapter to boot? The first step in troubleshooting your dell Inspiron 700m battery is determining whether it can hold enough charge to boot the notebook. Will the laptop power up and run on the battery, or does the AC adapter which doubles as the laptop battery charger need to be plugged in? Modern notebooks usually have a whole array of status LEDs that will tell you if the laptop senses good power coming from the battery charger and whether or not the dell 5081P battery is charging. Unfortunately, there's no universal standard for these LEDs, their colors or their actions. Note also that we're using the term "boot" rather loosely here. If the laptop powers up on battery, you can hear the fans and the drives, your troubleshooting problem lies elsewhere.

Life Of Battery Too Short? This is the main problem laptop owners complain about, and often for good cause. Older laptops using Ni-Cad and early Ni-MH dell 75UYF battery often ran for 2.5 to 3.5 hours when brand new, but within a month or so, would barely keep the notebook powered up for an hour. Newer laptops using Ni-MH and Li-ION batteries are much better, often holding onto a three hour life through hundreds of charge and discharge cycles. The first line of defense against complaints about dell 1691P battery life by the manufacturers is always, "Did you charge and operate the battery according to the manual?" Unfortunately, different laptop manufacturers seem to disagree over how to best treat batteries of the same technology, and I wouldn't be surprised if the differences extend to different models from the same manufacturer.

If the laptop's dell Latitude C640 battery life has been slowly degrading over time, it's probably operating more or less in accordance with plan, but if you find the operating life shortened by more than 15% or 20% within the first few months, there's probably something wrong. Batteries of all technologies can be "trained" to perform poorly through non-ideal usage patterns, but the Li-ION dell Latitude C610 battery technology is pretty resistant, and as long as you run them all the way down once a month or so, you can probably prevent any serious charging memory issues.
