Speaking out is a good way to get a woman branded a “liar,” a “slut,” or an “attention-seeker.” When you’re a man, most people will just laugh at you if you say you were sexually violated by a woman. But it happens, and it happens more often than you’d think. Here’s what men of Reddit had to say about times when they were sexually assaulted by the fairer sex.

Throwneverfurth said that it isn’t cool, and that he was raped by his then-girlfriend. His girlfriend was asking for more and more in bed, often trying to bait him in to getting forceful it was. It soon got to the point that she pressured him into anal penetration. When pressuring didn’t work, she just tied him up and forced him. Then, she started hitting him. Then, she acted like nothing was wrong. He got a lawyer, got her evicted, and had charges pressed. He said, “I haven't had sex since I was raped. I've tried with three different women. Two were random hook ups, one of them I started to cry and just got dressed and left my own apartment.”

He was 4 years old when it happened, and she was “about 15 or so.” He said that he didn’t remember much, but that she performed oral sex on him and forced him to “do the same to her.” His mother called the police, but they didn’t even investigate. Despite the 11 year age difference, police said, “since it was a girl doing it to a guy, it was just 'experimentation.'"

His rapist said that she had been sexually abused for years, and confided that she needed to sleep with him so that her “family member would get a kick out of it.” She ended up saying that if he didn’t sleep with her, “she’d be in serious trouble.” After begging and harming herself after he said no, she admitted that the family member never existed.

Mighbefun said that he was worried about “being seen as the assailant.” When people see a man beating a woman, they will assume that the woman’s the victim rather than the man being a person defending himself. He said that he was violated by his ex after a major fight, and then he added, “I repeatedly told her "no" but that didn't matter. She wanted to 'fix things’.” After it was over, he called the cops. The cops didn’t believe him and “left without doing anything.”

Astrowalker, on the other hand, claimed he wasn’t affected much. He was 7 when he had a babysitter that would take him into the bathroom and give him oral sex. He said, “The most unpleasant part of the whole ordeal for me was being forced to go to a therapist after my mom found out and pressed charges.” According to him, the therapist was very “frustrated” by the fact that it didn’t bother him.

Notquiteright2 said that he was violated when he popped his cherry. He said that the girl who took him was “stronger than [he] was at that age,” and that there wasn’t much he could do about it. He said athat he was conflicted, but that he said that something went off in him and he decided, “Better to enjoy it than let it hurt me.” He said that they ended up dating, and that they are still good friends…even though she raped him.

VirogenicFawn21 admitted that he jokes about rape, but that he lost his virginity via having a girl rape him. His girlfriend kept asking for sex, and he kept saying no. He wanted to make it special. Eventually, she apparently got sick of waiting and decided to get him drunk. She then told him to lose his pants and close his eyes. He recalled, “When I opened my eyes, I was inside her, and she was giving me that "now what are you gonna do about it?" faces. I pushed her off of me just as I came.”

Rehn said that it scared him. He said that living with the stigma of being raped was a big struggle, and that he had “kept it internally sealed for a long time.” Though he tries to avoid thinking of it, he still does occasionally and remembering it often fills him with dread.

Kendallmaloneon explained that he was technically violated while having sex. He was having sex when the girl he was sleeping with ban to choke him during the act. Since he was in a situation where his ability to fight back was limited, there wasn’t much he could do. She said she was going to try to kill him. Looking back at it, he said, “It changed me in that respect. I don’t relax around women in my bed anymore. Don’t trust them. Have full sex with many fewer than i could.”

Another user said that he got drunk and ended up having sex with his roommate’s SOBER girlfriend. He almost got kicked out after the girl told his roommate, and that he lost his friend despite trying to explain that he “was in no condition to consent to anything while she was completely sober.” To make matters worse, she mocked him for being bad in bed in front of his friends. No one believed him.

One anonymous user said that his wife raped him when she wanted a second child after he said he was finished having kids. The situation was terrible. They had lost their original second child at birth, and she blamed him for the death of said child. She got on top, and he said “we conceived our second child.” When he thought of how it felt, he said, “It is a horrid feeling when your body betrays you, whether it's impotence or the opposite.”

PaperbagRider got a bit violent when he talked about how he felt. “For me, the only way I could think of to make it stop was to kill the woman. Which is what I wanted to do, but realized there was no way in the world I wouldn't go to jail for it,” he wrote. So, feeling defeated, all he could do was wait until it was over. He said that when he looked back, he dissociated and was very paralyzed.

RobinsRant explained that it was “not very good at all,” and that he still can’t get over it. RobinsRant was 14 at the time of the rape, and that it made him live with a fear of women. She was his girlfriend, and it wasn’t good or pleasurable. He explained, “She did her best to ignore me and at the same time restrain me. After it was all over she got off and just walked out with a smile on her face. My Johnson was bleeding and terribly sore.”

Btx21 said that what hurts is that “you don't always know that it's happening when it's happening.” It took him a while to realize that being manipulated into bed is still being raped. He added that “Yes doesn't really mean yes if it came as a result of pressure.”

SantiagoGT explained that he was raped during a span of 3 months by his then-girlfriend. He then stopped her and left. His current girlfriend “made some jokes about it,” which only goes to show you how little male rape is taken seriously by others. He explained, “I used to think I deserved it, but nobody deserves it, it is the worst feeling ever…."
