When you’ve been in a committed relationship for a while, you’ll soon come to realize that you kind of get into a routine with your partner. You get to know one another’s schedule and you plan time to spend with one another around that. This goes for sex, too. According to a recent study, most couples have a preferred time to have sex, whether or not they’re aware of it.  Unsurprisingly, the best times to have sex for a lot of people is on the weekends, when they’re much more relaxed and able to take their sweet,  during the week?! Read on below.

Sex. It can be hard to find time to have sex when you and your partner both have busy schedules. When you have kids, things can get even more complicated. However, a new study found that for the most part, couples tend to find time to have sex on weekends.

Times. A study was done in the UK by a company called Superdrug, that sells beauty and health supplies. According to Your Tango, researchers spoke to 2,000 people about what their preferred times to have sex were. They asked each couple to list their top ten times and days when they typically got busy.

Weekends. Unsurprisingly, the best time of the day to have sex for most couples was Sunday morning at 9 am. This was followed by Friday and Saturday nights, between 9:30 and 11:15 pm. Saturday mornings were also at the top of the list. Weekends are typically the best because you have more time to spend with one another and don’t have to worry about finishing fast so you can head out to work.

Weekdays. The researchers also asked the couples what times they didn’t enjoy having sex, and most answered that the most inconvenient times for them to have sex were weekday afternoons, and Friday and Saturdays at 5 pm. This makes sense, because it’s usually when people are at work or just may have gotten home and are likely still tired from their day.

Hormones. According to researchers, morning sex is usually the best time to have sex, especially for men, because its when their hormones are at their highest levels. Despite the morning breath and eye boogers, men are the most eager to have sex early in the morning.

More energy. Morning sex can also be good for men who have a hard time lasting long in bed. ”That's when testosterone levels peak. When a man has higher testosterone and is well-rested, he has more energy during sex. That energy will help him last longer,” Dr. Harry Fisch tells Maxim.

Benefits. Believe it or not, morning sex also has some health benefits. According to Maxim, doing the horizontal tango early in the morning lowers your blood pressure and stress levels and prepares you to have a great day ahead.

Immune system. “Morning sex can strengthen your immune system for the day by enhancing your levels of IgA, an antibody that protects against infection. And climaxing releases chemicals that boost levels of estrogen and testosterone, which improves the tone and texture of your skin and hair,” says Dr. Fisch, as reported by Maxim.

Biological clock. So while it’s safe to say that most people will agree morning sex is the best, sleep experts say that your age also depends on when you like to have sex. Dr. Paul Kelley did a study on people’s biological clocks and how they change the older they get.

Changes. ”Your body clock changes with age, when you feel like waking up. It actually controls every body system and controls every one of the trillion cells in your body. In most things we've got the timings right, but we haven't accounted for these changes,” says Dr. Kelley, as reported by the Independent UK.

Peak. For people in their 20s, Dr. Kelley says the best time to have sex is at 3 pm. This is shocking considering how many people said they hated afternoon sex in the study done by Superdrug. However, according to Dr. Kelley, this is the time when people are at their peak of libido.

Testosterone. If you’re in your 30s however, having sex between 8 and 9 am is the best time for you. As mentioned previously, this is when testosterone levels are the highest. However, things start to change once you hit your 40s.

Best times. People tend to go to bed earlier the older they get, so Dr. Kelley suggests people in their 40s and 50s should have sex around 10 pm, right before they doze off. People in their 60s and 70s on the other hand, should be having sex anywhere between 6 and 6:30 am, when they’re just waking up.

Up to you. At the end of the day, it’s up to you and your partner to decided when to have sex. Whether it be 2 in the morning or 2 in the afternoon, as long as you’re enjoying yourself, it shouldn’t matter to anyone else!
