Regular sex skyrockets your health. Medical experts agree that the benefits of having regular sex extend far beyond it simply being pleasurable. Study after study confirms that sex has a boosting effect on both overall health as well as well-being.

Sex makes you look younger. A 10-year study led by Dr. David Weeks, a clinical neuropsychologist at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, found that regular “loving” sex has an anti-aging effect! The research found that older men and women with an active sex life looked at least 5 to 7 years younger than their peers.

Regular sex boosts fertility. Researchers have also found that when it comes to fertility, having regular sex boosts the quality of a man’s sperm. The health of a man’s semen was found to be at its optimum when the man had engaged in sexual activity at least 2 days before testing but to have greatly reduced health after 10 days of abstinence.

Sex twice a week increases chance of conceiving. Based on this research, fertility experts recommend that couples who are trying to have a baby engage in sexual activity at least twice a week and not only when the woman is ovulating. Regular sex has also been found to help women balance their hormones and regulate their periods, which experts say also increases the chances of conceiving.

Regular sex boosts your immunity. Another way that sex skyrockets your health, say medical experts, is by raising the body’s levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A or IgA. This has the effect of boosting your immunity against colds and flu and the research shows that people who have sex more than once a week have 30% higher levels of immunoglobulin A.

Sex naturally activates an anti-aging hormone. Sex also increases the body’s levels of a natural steroid called DHEA. Known as the “anti-aging hormone,” medical experts say that it helps to keep the body in better condition as you age. After sex, the levels of DHEA in the body skyrocket to 5 times the normal amount!

Weekly sex reduces mortality. A study in Australia compared those who have sex weekly to those who only engage monthly. According to the findings, people who had at least 3 orgasms a week lower their chance of dying for any medical reason by half compared to those who only climaxed once a month!

Stay fit with regular sex. Having sex keeps you fit, says science! 30 minutes of intense sexual activity has been found to burn as many as 100 calories, say experts, while changing position helps you to work different muscle groups and keep your limbs toned and flexible.

Frequent intercourse strengthens pelvic floor muscles. Sex provides another kind of workout for women, helping to keep the muscles of the pelvic floor toned and strong. Pelvic floor muscles can be used by women to control their orgasms, as well as manage the symptoms of urinary incontinence.

Pelvic floor muscles matter. Pregnancy and menopause have an impact on pelvic floor muscles and can reduce muscle tone significantly. Frequent sex can help to lower the chances of developing stress incontinence, say experts, and even prolapse.

Sex can act as a natural painkiller. For women, sex can also be a natural painkiller. Researchers believe that sex relaxes the tension in the same muscles that cause uterine cramping and therefore eases the pain during periods.

Regular sex reduces your risk of heart attack. Numerous studies have found that regular sex has the power to prevent heart attacks. According to one study by Queen’s University Belfast, having sex 3 times a week can cut your risk of heart attack and stroke in half!
