The Greek myth of Icarus tells the story of a boy who dreamed of flying. He was so determined that he managed to procure a pair of wings and eventually, he flew. Sadly, his makeshift wings were made with wax and when he flew too close to the sun, his wings melted and he fell and died. Some see this as a metaphor for celebrity. We love to watch a human being, just like any one of us, soar to the heights of wealth and fame. But what we love even more is to watch them fall. Sex crimes forever alter the lives of the people whom they affect, which is why, when a celebrity gets accused of a sex crime, they’re forever changed in the eyes of the public. However, an accusation doesn't necessarily mean guilt, and there are many cases of people falsely accusing celebrities of sex crimes in order to extort money from them or garner attention. Here's our list of celebrities that were charged with sex crimes.

Britney Spears Spears’ ex-bodyguard Fernando Flores alleged that Spears attempted to seduce him on many occasions and frolicked naked around him. When he didn’t take the bait, Flores alleged that Spears said, “What are you? A f***ing F****t?” The case was settled out of court.
Bill Cosby In 2004, Cosby was accused of sexual misconduct by 13 different women. He settled out of court and it all seemed to go away. Then comedian Hannibal Buress joked about it onstage, and it all came rushing back like an avalanche. A total of 49 women proceeded to come forward, many of them alleging the same behavior. In December of 2015, he was arrested on sexual assault charges in Pennsylvania.

Marv Albert Perhaps most famous for his voice, the sports announcer was charged in 1997 for forcible sodomy and battery. The acts famously included bitting and dressing up in women’s clothing. He pleaded guilty and was given a 12-month suspended sentence.

Billie Joe Armstrong The man who’s known for writing the best masturbation anthem of our era was indeed charged with indecent exposure in 1998.
Rob Lowe Many people know Rob Lowe made a sex tape. What many do not know is that one of the women featured in the tape was a minor. The girl’s mother sued the actor. Lowe eventually settled the case, but it took a long time before the public considered him lovable again.

Tupac Shakur It was an odd set of circumstances. The man who’d just had a hit song about women’s rights, "Keep Ya Head Up," was accused of sexual abuse by a female fan. Shakur was eventually found guilty and sentenced to 18 months.

Tommy Lee You know when you go to take a bow and your pants fall down, exposing your genitals? No? Well, Tommy Lee does, and he has a indecent exposure charge to prove it.
Marilyn Manson A 25-year-old security guard alleged that Manson, in the middle of a concert, spit on his head, and then rubbed his genitals on him. The charge was later reduced to disorderly conduct. While this doesn’t excuse his behavior, the alleged misconduct is one of the least strange things Manson has ever done during a concert.

Paul Reubens Sadly, we have another individual whose career was peripheral to children’s entertainment. Police arrested Reubens in Florida at the height of his career, when "Pee Wee’s Playhouse" was an extremely popular kids how. The incident ruined his career. Years later he was charged with child pornography, which he adamantly denied, claiming a few pieces of art were being called “child pornography.” The charged was later reduced to obscenity.

Cee Lo Green Green was originally charged with sexually assaulting a woman he had dinner with in 2012, after the woman claimed he slipped ecstasy in her drink. However, the case eventually fell apart and the charge was downgraded to distributing a controlled substance, to which he pled no contest. The trouble surrounding the charge may have cost him his spot on "The Voice."
Stephen Collins We all know him as the dad from "7th Heaven." Stephen Collins played the biggest goodie two shoes on a show about goodie two shoes, (not to mention Christian values). Apparently, the man behind the character was taking part in therapy session with his wife. During one of them, he confessed to exposing himself to, and molesting, girls under the age of 13. He’s since admitted this publicly, and the NYPD is investigating.

Terrence Howard Howard has six separate charges for physically abusing women. He assaulted a flight attendant on plane. He punched his estranged wife three times in the face. He was charged with beating a woman named Danielle Destefano and her husband at a restaurant, but the charges were later downgraded to disorderly conduct. His second wife alleges he beat her and held a knife to her throat. His ex-girlfriend, May Seng Yang, charges that he punched her in the face and knowingly gave her herpes, but the matter was eventually settled in civil court. His second wife also alleges that, when they tried to reconcile, he punched her in the face again, forcing her to pepper spray him.

Sean Penn According to numerous websites, Sean Penn tied his former wife Madonna to a chair, gagged and left her there while he went out and bought alcohol. He only agreed to untie her if she agreed to perform oral sex on him. However, Madonna recently stated publicly that these allegations were false and Penn was never charged with the crime.
Oscar Wilde When it comes to Oscar Wilde’s sodomy charge, time and society must be taken into account. The age difference of some of his trysts not withstanding, Oscar Wilde was prosecuted for being gay more than anything else, which does not belong on a list of “sex crimes.” He also wrote some of his best work while incarcerated. Who else can make that claim?
Not Brad Pitt Multiple outlets seem to list Brad Pitt as having been charged with indecent exposure, but by all accounts, this is incorrect. Instead, a man who arrested for exposing himself on a public beach told police his name was Brad Pitt when he was arrested. It’s a bit funny when you think about it. For most men, the last situation where you’d try to pass yourself off as Brad Pitt is when you’re naked on the beach.
